PC Bottleneck Estimator

A rough rule-of-thumb check on whether your CPU or GPU is the limiting part at your resolution.

Estimates only. These calculators use typical component specifications and rough rules of thumb. They are for planning and education, not purchase advice. Verify every number against your parts’ official datasheets before buying or building.

Pick a CPU tier and a GPU tier, choose your target resolution, and get a rough balance verdict. This is a rule-of-thumb estimate — real bottlenecking depends on the exact game and settings.

Rough estimate only. CPU and GPU tiers are well matched for this resolution — neither clearly wastes the other. CPU bottlenecking is worst at low resolution and high frame rates; GPU bottlenecking grows with resolution and detail. Test with your actual titles.
What a bottleneck really means

A bottleneck is simply the slowest part in a given workload. At 1080p with high frame rates, the CPU often caps performance; at 4K with high detail, the GPU almost always does. The same hardware can be “balanced” at one resolution and “GPU-limited” at another. This estimator is a planning hint — test with the actual games and settings you play.
