Methodology

TweakGearPro is a toolkit of free, client-side PC build and hardware calculators. This page explains where the component figures come from, how we verify them, and where our estimates stop being authoritative.

Data sources

Component figures — TDP, VRAM, core/clock specs, PSU efficiency and monitor parameters — are drawn from official manufacturer datasheets and board-power specifications.
Relative performance and benchmark tiers use published benchmark sources and community-accepted reference values.
Each calculator links to its primary reference and shows a retrieval date so you can verify before acting.

How we verify

Every figure is verified against a source before publication. Anything we cannot verify is marked as pending or omitted entirely. Where a value depends on model- or workload-specific factors, we use typical manufacturer specs and label them clearly as estimates. Retrieval dates are recorded per dataset and refreshed on a versioned changelog.

Refresh cadence

The open dataset is refreshed annually with a versioned changelog; new hardware launches and notable spec changes are updated as sources change. The current dataset version is dated 2026-09-10. You can cite or download the full open dataset from our Cite This Dataset page.

Open data & original research

The TweakGearPro open dataset — including the 316-component hardware catalog and its category, brand and release-year coverage — is published for review and reuse under CC BY 4.0. You can download it and copy a ready-made citation on our Cite This Dataset page. Our Hardware Coverage Dataset page documents the sample, fields, method and limitations, and our hardware coverage study presents the descriptive analysis built on that data.

Known limitations

Calculators provide estimates for planning only. Real power draw, thermals and FPS vary with silicon, drivers, cooling and workload. Component figures are typical manufacturer specs and may vary by model. We are not affiliated with any hardware vendor — always verify with the datasheet before buying.
