Memory Usage Optimizer

Find out if your RAM is comfortable, tight, or over budget before you buy more.

Estimate how much RAM your typical session uses and whether you have headroom — or need a page file.

Browsers and Electron apps are RAM hogs; a few tabs plus a game can blow past 16 GB. Once committed memory exceeds physical RAM, Windows spills to the page file (slow) — headroom under ~4 GB means you’re flirting with that cliff.
Is your RAM enough?

Scenario: your system stutters when you game with many browser tabs open. This estimates whether you are exceeding physical RAM and spilling to the slow page file.

Example: 16 GB installed, 4 GB OS plus 3 GB × 6 apps = 22 GB used — “Over budget” by 6 GB; you are spilling to the page file. Closing 2 apps or adding RAM fixes it.

Boundaries: estimates assume typical app footprints; Chrome tabs and Electron apps are RAM hogs and vary widely. This does not account for cached or compressed-memory tricks the OS uses to stretch capacity.

FAQ: how much RAM do I need? 16 GB is the bare comfortable minimum for gaming plus a few tabs; 32 GB gives headroom for streaming or heavy multitasking. Under ~4 GB of headroom you are near the page-file cliff.
