How this calculator works

The estimator starts from a reference 1080P-Ultra FPS figure for each GPU tier, scales it by the resolution's pixel-count ratio (1440P ≈ 0.56×, 4K ≈ 0.27× of 1080P throughput), then applies a preset multiplier (esports titles run lighter, ray tracing runs heavier). The Low / Med / High tiers reflect real setting trade-offs: Low lowers quality for ~25% more FPS and lower power; High enables ray tracing and maxed presets, cutting FPS but pushing power and heat up.

When to use it

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this FPS calculator accurate for every game?
No single number fits every game. The estimator models typical AAA load scaling; poorly optimized ports or esports titles will deviate. Treat it as a planning baseline, not a benchmark.
Why does 4K drop FPS so steeply?
4K renders about 4× the pixels of 1080P. Even a strong GPU loses roughly 70–75% of its 1080P FPS at 4K Ultra because fill-rate and bandwidth become the limiter.
How is temperature estimated?
We start from a typical loaded GPU temperature for each tier (good cooler, case airflow), add ambient-room offset, then apply a tier delta (High/RT runs hotter, Low runs cooler).
Does CPU or RAM affect these numbers?
Yes — at 1080P especially, a weak CPU or single-channel RAM can cap FPS below what the GPU could deliver. This tool isolates the GPU; use the RAM and power calculators to check the rest of the system.
